Doppler ultrasound
Doppler assessment of the uteroplacental and fetal circulation plays an important role in assessment of the fetal condition in pathological pregnancies.
Requirements for certification
The requirements for obtaining the FMF certificate of competence in Doppler ultrasound are:
- Attendance of the FMF internet based theoretical course on antenatal surveillance.
- Submission of a logbook of the following 4 images:
- Color flow image and normal or abnormal waveform of the uterine arteries
- Color flow image and normal or abnormal waveform of the umbilical arteries
- Color flow image and normal or abnormal waveform of the fetal middle cerebral artery
- Color flow image and normal or abnormal waveform of the fetal ductus venosus
The full FMF certificate in Doppler ultrasound will be awarded only to candidates who have successfully completed the two year FMF clinical fellowship or provided a satisfactory proof of practical assessment (awarded on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the FMF). For candidates who successfully complete the theoretical components and submit a satisfactory logbook of images, only a certificate of completion for the theory will be awarded.
